Glenn R. Kelly, 85, of Van Wert, died at 8:58 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
He was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Arnold, Pa., to the late Clara J. (Baxter) Kelly and William H. Kelly.
His wife, Freeda Belle (Gillis) Kelly, died Feb. 13, 2008.
Survivors include a son: William G. (Deborah) Kelly of Van Wert; daughter-in-law: Michiko Kelly of Saratoga, Calif.; a sister: Joy E. Hawk of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren: Michael & Tom Kelly and Katie (Cody) Bowersock, all of Van Wert, and Christina Kelly of Saratoga, Calif, and a great-grandchild: Max Gunner Bowersock.
He was preceded in death by a son: G. Scott Kelly, a brother: W. Bruce Kelly, and a sister: Norma Jean Gourley.
He retired from the Wearever Division of Alcoa, Chilicothe, Ohio, after 34 years of service.
He recently attended First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII, a member of the Elks, a member of the Masons and attended meetings at the Van Wert lodge.
He wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for 25 winters, was a Red Cross volunteer and loved travel campers, traveling to all 49 continental states and most of Canada.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate.
Friends may call from 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Red Cross.
