Gloris Ford

Gloris E. Ford, 97, of Van Wert passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Vancrest Health Care Center.

Born on January 29, 1923 in, Van Wert, daughter of the late Clide E. Ford, Sr. and Ruah Jane (Gamble) Ford.

Gloris was a 1942 graduate of Van Wert High School where she was a member of the Varsity Club.

Gloris worked for 34 1/2 years at Federal Mogul in Van Wert- retiring on February 1, 1984.

Gloris was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert and the Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Van Wert Chapter, since 1947. She was a member of the Van Wert Bowling Association and the Van Wert Women's Golf Club. Gloris spent many active years leading local women's youth softball and bowling programs.

Gloris also enjoyed volunteering for Community Health Professionals, playing golf later in life and traveling. She participated in many state and national bowling tournaments. She and Wanda Hoaglin were the 1963 Ohio Women's Doubles Bowling State Champions.

In addition to her parents, Gloris was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilford "Gil" Ford, Clayton G. Ford, Clide Ford, Jr., Jim Ford and Henry Ford; and her sisters, Vetha Sennebogen and Viola Mae Ford.

Surviving are a number of special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2020 and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gloris`s memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.
