Gordon G. Finger, 75, of Van Wert, passed away at 7:03 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born July 16, 1942, in Ft. Wayne, IN, to Wilmer F. & Ruth L (Gusler) Finger who are deceased. He married Doris M. (German) Finger on January 18,1971 and she survives in Van Wert.
Surviving are his children Kendra Roxo & Tavia Bish, Lima, OH; Darci (Chad) Wistner, Jonesville, VA; Gordon (Tracy) Finger, Jr., Bowling Green, OH; Tiffany (Steve) Cooper, Van Wert, OH. His grandchildren: Nick (Ashley) Roxo, Ashley Roxo, Krista Taylor, Trey (Amber) Bish, Joshua Bish, Nowelle Finger, Lance Wistner, Brianna Finger, Britany Finger, Kaemon Finkhousen, Brooke Cooper. 13 great-grandchildren and his toy yorkie Wonderful William also survive.
A brother Roger Finger and a sister Karen King are deceased.
Gordon was baptized Lutheran. He was a 1960 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and was a Veteran of the US Navy during the Cuban Blockade. He was a Retired Chief Deputy Sheriff for Van Wert County. He loved to fish, collect eagles, cook pies, raising flowers and writing poetry.
Funeral service will be 4PM Monday July 2, 2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory.
Vistation will be from 12-4PM on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pastor Neil Hammons will officiate. Preferred Memorials may go to the Van Wert County Humane Society.
