Harold E. Murphy, 82, of Van Wert, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:46 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Van Wert, to Ruby (Johnson) Murphy and Clarence "Bud" Murphy. His parents are deceased.
His wife, Helen (Shaw) Murphy, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include children, Mickey (Jodi) Murphy and Angie Murphy, both of Van Wert; a brother, Rev. Bobby (Jill) Murphy of Poland, Ohio; sisters, Mary Agler of Van Wert, and Dottie Dipple of Convoy, Ohio, and grandchildren, Nehemiah (Damaris) Murphy, Malachi Murphy, and Millicent Murphy. Many nieces and nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Murphy, and a brother-in-law, Jim Agler.
He retired from Aeroquip Corp. in Van Wert in 1992.
He was a member of Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, where he held various positions at the church. Harold had a passion for Trinity Friends Church and was a prayer warrior there. He volunteered with Van Wert Athletic Department and ran the football score clock for 40 years. He was an avid New York Yankee fan and Indiana Hosiers fan.
Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert. The Revs. Steve Savage and Steve Heilshorn will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation is 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Preferred memorial is Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert.
