VAN WERT - Helen L. Geisman, 97, of Van Wert, OH, died at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Vancrest Healthcare Center in Van Wert.
Geisman was born April 22, 1917, in Van Wert County to Milton and Sarah (McMillen) Parsons, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Howard W. Rodman.
She is survived by her children Patricia (Everett, Jr.) Thatcher of Convoy, Ohio; Phyllis (Dale) Conley of Paulding, Ohio; Jim (Vivian) Rodman of Churubusco, In; Jan (Richard) Packer of Washington, WV; and Mike (Elaine) Rodman of Franklin, Indiana. She also raised her nephew and niece, Danny and Vicki. Geisman is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Kelly of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Geisman was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member and avid supporter of Salvation Army of Van Wert. Geisman was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Van Wert; and a member of Van Wert American Legion Aux.
Visitation will occur from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio. A service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday August 1, 2014, at the funeral home and be officiated by Pastor Mike Harper. A burial will take place at Ridge Cemetery in Middle Point, Ohio.
