VAN WERT, Ohio - Helen A. "Meda" (Pride) Hofmann, 83, of Van Wert, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born Oct. 5, 1928, in East Fultingham, Ohio, to the late Pearl (Tignor) Pride and Raymond Pride.
Survivors include her children: Gary (Connie) Hofmann of Cottontown, Tenn., Greg Hofmann of Lakeview, Ore., Mike (Lisa) Hofmann of Culpepper, Va., Marc (Becky) Hofmann of Gordonsville, Va., and Michelle (Ron) Army of Van Wert; a brother: John Pride of Newark, Ohio; two sisters: Sally Desarrio of Roseville, Ohio, and Bertha McDaniel of Lancaster, Ohio; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a child: Marsha Hofmann, who died in infancy, two brothers: Sunny and Wilford Pride, and three sisters: Mary, Florence and Nancy.
She was a certified nursing assistant at Convoy Care Center, Convoy, Ohio, and a lifelong caregiver for several families.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Van Wert County, Ohio. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be directed to Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
