Helena Maxine Schaadt "Maxine", age 92, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 8:45 A.M. on March 7, 2015, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, where she had been a patient. She was born in Missouri on July 6, 1922. On November 11, 1971, she married Gerald "Jerry" Schaadt, and he survives in Rockford. She and Jerry moved to Rockford after buying the Tastee Twirl in 1975. For the next 21 years, they continued the tradition of serving the best soft-serve ice cream, sandwiches, and shakes to the people in Rockford and the surrounding areas. Surviving in addition to her husband Jerry, is one step-son, Michael Schaadt of West Palm Beach, Florida, and one step-daughter, Diana Davrainville of Oregon; two step-grandchildren also survive. One sister-in-law, Helen Schaadt (her husband Ralph, deceased) survives in Van Wert, Ohio, along with two nephews: David Schaadt of Van Wert and Paul (Rachel) Schaadt of Fort Wayne, Indiana. two nieces, Joyce (Chris) Clark and Karen Banks, both of Van Wert, and two great nieces and one great nephew, all of Van Wert. Deceased is a brother-in-law, Karl Schaadt and a sister-in-law, Florine Schaadt. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
