Herbert Wilson Brandt, 99, of Rockford, formerly of Willshire, Ohio, died at 9:50 PM on November 21, 2014. He was born on November 27, 1914, to Otto Arthur and Eva Rose (Wise) Brandt at the home place, in Willshire, where he continued to live for over 95 years. He Married Anna L. Fahncke on November 26, 1942, and she survives in Rockford. Herb was a life-long farmer, and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Chattanooga, Ohio. In addition to being a member of the church, he also taught Sunday School, and was a member of the church council. He had been a member of the NFO, and the Willshire School Board. Surviving in addition to his wife Anna, are five children: Janet (Ralph) Huge, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Edgar (Bev) Brandt, also of Ft. Wayne; Carole (DeWayne) Knipstein, Hoagland, Indiana; Alan (Kay) Brandt, Rockford; and Cary (Kim) Brandt of Willshire. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 3 step-grandsons, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandsons. Preceding in death were a brother, Carl Brandt, and three sisters, Esther Brandt Havens, Berniece Brandt Shell, and Louise Brandt Baughman. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Karen Tamorria officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chattanooga. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be directed to the church.
