Howard B. Putman, 79, of Spencerville, Ohio, died Wednesday evening, February 20, 2013 at his home. He was born February 21, 1933, in Willshire, Ohio, to George H. and Emma Fredaricka (Pflaughar) Putman. On August 16, 1958, he married Norma J. Ralston who survives. He had lived his entire life in the Van Wert and Mercer County areas and was a farmer. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He had attended the Lutheran Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, Norma, are two daughters: Leisha (Troy) Comer of Wapakoneta, and Leslie (John) Ringwald of Van Wert, Ohio; three granddaughters: Kristin (Chris) Morehouse, Wapakoneta, Renee Comer, also of Wapakoneta, and Stephani (Jason) Schmehl of St. Marys; and three great grandchildren: Chelsea & Keaton Morehouse, and Talon Schmehl. One brother, Theodore Carl (Mary Jane) Putman of New Haven, Indiana, and one sister, Mrs. Joan (Leonard) Berry of Sun City, Arizona, also survive along, with one sister-in-law, Eudora Putman, of Fairborn, Ohio. Graveside services for family and friends will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, Ohio. Officiating will be Reverend Don Clinger. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Celina V.F.W. Memorials may be to the Donor's Choice. Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, Ohio, is handling arrangements.
