VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Iylene P. "Pat" Pancake, 90, of Van Wert, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Van Wert, to the late Almeda (Stout) Kennedy and Howard Leslie Kennedy.
Her husband, Kenneth A. Pancake, died April 7, 2012.
Survivors include her children: Michael A. (Pauline) Pancake of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Leslie D. Pancake of South Whitley, Ind., Patti A. (Steve) Keister of Van Wert; daughter-in-law: Debra Pancake of Puyallup, Wash.; sister: Ruth Roth of Monroe, Ohio; grandchildren: Heather, Rachel, Rebecca, Michelle, Katy, Megan, Colleen, Christian and Kenna, and great-grandchildren: Noelle, Preston and Avaleen.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Clark Pancake and Howard William Pancake, a brother: William Kennedy, and sisters: Francis Gillen, Grace Williamson, Edna Hite, Bernice Linser and Margaret Jane Ditto.
She was an artist and musician. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy, Ohio, where she served as organist for many years. A member of Wassenberg Art Center, she had a passion for teaching art and music. She was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WW II.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy. The Rev. Doug Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Convoy. Military graveside services will be conducted by combined units of the Van Wert and Convoy American Legion and V.F.W. Posts.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials may be directed to the Van Wert County Foundation for the Wassenberg Art Center in Pat's name or Community Health Professionals - Hospice.
