Jackie Foster

Jackie Sue Foster, age 16, of Wapakoneta, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 4:42 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer. She was born March 15, 2001 in Van Wert.

Jackie attended Wapakoneta High School where she participated in soccer and track & field until her illness forced her to be homeschooled.  She was formerly active in the Girl Scouts for over 10 years. During her battle, Jackie surrounded herself in music, which became her solace. She would often rap and sing in the hospital halls where she became known as the singing teenager. A social media fanatic, Jackie enjoyed connecting with her family and friends using her phone, and loved everything SpongeBob SquarePants.

Jackie’s strength throughout her fight was inspiring and her smile infectious. Her spunk and perseverance will forever be admired.

She is survived by her mother, Vickie S. Foster; brother, Jordan Foster; grandmother, Janet L. Foster; uncle, Ronald Foster, all of Wapakoneta; aunt, Connie (Doug) Leffel; cousins, Derek and Courtney Leffel, all of St. Marys; great aunt, Janice Pohlman of Florida; great uncle, Kenneth Thomas of Colorado.

Jackie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Eugene W. Foster.

Funeral Service will be 11am Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Wapakoneta Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip DeLorme officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Wapakoneta Baptist Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, (www.childrenscancer.org)
