Jacqueline Bates

Jacqueline J. Bates, 86, of Van Wert, died at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Hearth and Home of Van Wert. She was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Van Wert, to Josephine (Hawkins) King and J. Howard King. Her parents preceded her in death. Her husband, Edwin L. Bates, survives of Van Wert. They were married April 29, 1961.
Other survivors include her children, Jeff (Jan) Bates of Perrysburg, Ohio, and M. Scott Bates of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Stittsworth.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, a member and volunteer for the American Red Cross, and a member of Thomas Edison Mothers Club.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery Van Wert.
Preferred memorial is Thomas Edison Memorial Endowment Fund of Van Wert or State of the Heart Hospice, Greenville.
