James Allen, Sr

VAN WERT - James E. Allen, Sr., 88, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Van Wert Hospital.
He was born on April 30, 1923 in Van Wert to Glenn O. and Anna M. (Disabennet) Allen, both of whom are deceased. On September 9, 1945, he married Betty J. (Youtsey) Allen, who preceded him in death.
Allen is survived by his children, James E. Allen, Jr., of Van Wert and Deanna (Larry) Oechsle, of Van Wert; three sisters, Susan Courtney, Gladys Caudill, and Cordella Hartman all of Van Wert; granddaughter Lori Straley of Van Wert; and a great-grandchild, Jonathan Straley of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by brothers Glenn Allen, Jr. and Louis Allen; half-brother Donald E. Seekings; and a sister, Esther Hartman.
Allen was a retired truck driver for the Dundee Truck Line and had worked for the CCC in the 1930's.
A private family service will be held with burial at the Little Auglaize Cemetery in Paulding County. There are no visitation hours scheduled.
Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Salvation Army or the Van Wert CHP Hospice Program.
