VAN WERT, Ohio - James H. Barnhart, Sr., 68, Van Wert, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
He was born June 12, 1943, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Thelma Opal (Leonard) Barnhart and Allie E. Barnhart, Sr. His wife, Carol (Butler) Barnhart, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children: James H. (Susan) Barnhart, Jr., Rhonda A. (David) Davis and Joseph A. (Danielle) Barnhart, all of Van Wert; a brother: William (Evelyn) Barnhart of Van Wert; five sisters: Betty Jewel of Van Wert, Rosalie (Art) Miller of Defiance, Ohio, Ellen (Ed) Grimes, Janet (Don) Risley and Karen (Dennis) Stout, all of Van Wert, and eight grandchildren: Kirsten, Sabrina, Cameron, Alaina "Rosie" Barnhart and Logan, William, Evan, Felicity Davis.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Allie Barnhart, Jr., Bobby Barnhart, Delbert Barnhart and Harrell Barnhart, and three sisters: Ceola Ferna Shindeldecker, Arbadella Coressel and Loretta Rader
He retired from Grief Bros., Van Wert, after 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and loved his grandchildren.
Services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Mr. Vince Barnhart will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio. Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, and 11-12 Noon on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the funeral home.
