James H. Mielke, 69, of Paulding, Ohio, has taken his final crop tour and is resting with his Lord and Savior. Jim passed away at 3:05 AM on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born November 18, 1949 to the late Carl and Wilma (Kauser) Mielke. He married Karen Rose Ramsey Mielke and she survives of Paulding.
Jim retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in Paulding. He also farmed most of his life and had previously worked for the Paulding County Engineer’s Office. Jim was a veteran of Vietnam serving with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was also a life member of the Paulding Fraternal Order of Eagles and V.F.W. Post.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son, Gary James (Taylor) Mielke of Van Wert; grandchildren, Eli & Olivia Mielke and a grandson due in February, 2019; brothers, Kenneth (Lee Ann) Mielke of Van Wert and Max Mielke of New Haven, Indiana; a step-brother, Earl Mottashed of Defiance, Ohio; and two step-sisters, Sharon Iler of Defiance and Diane Davis of Atlanta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Lee Mielke; and his step-mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Mottashed Mielke.
Visitation will be 2-5 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert.
Preferred memorials may be directed to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
