James Russell Moorman, 84, of Convoy, Ohio died at 8:18 P.M., Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center after an injury sustained at his residence.
Jim was born in Van Wert County, on September 22, 1933, the son of Russell and Pauline (Otis) Moorman who preceded him in death.
He married the former Janet Rogers who survives of Convoy, Ohio.
Other survivors are his three children, John Moorman of Florida, Rhonda Eldridge of St. Marys, Ohio, and Joel Moorman of Leadville, Colorado; his brother, Paul Moorman of Florida; a sister, Judy Berres of Phoenix, Arizona; and a grandchild, Preston Eldridge.
Jim was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Moorman; and three sisters, Jewel Amstutz, Joy Gaberdiel, and Sandra Gahman.
Jim served in the United States Army. He was a self employed electrician who owned and operated Moorman Electric in Convoy, Ohio for many years. Jim also taught at Vantage Career Center in Van Wert for many years. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the American Legion and V.F.W.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gearhart-Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy, Ohio. The Rev. Misty-Dawn Shelly will officiate. Private family burial will take place at the Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Convoy, Ohio at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be directed to the Convoy Fire Department or the Unitarian Congregation, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
