James Robey

James W. Robey died at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

Jim was born June 7, 1928, in Van Wert County, to Thomas I. and Lela E. (Murphy) Robey of Van Wert, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Van Wert High School (T&I) in 1946, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps in June of 1948.

While stationed in Washington, D.C., he met a lovely girl (Reba Bonham) from Virginia and married her in 1951. They then returned to Van Wert in 1952 and had three children.

From 1954 to 1987, Jim had the honor and pleasure of working with, and supervising, the greatest group of people that was ever put together in a manufacturing operation ... Aeroquip Corporation's Industrial Division.

Jim was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert and was very active in community activities during his lifetime.

Survivors include his wife, Reba, of Van Wert; three children, Bill (Kathy) Robey of Palmetto, Florida, Cindy (Tim) Hammond of Dublin and Mike Robey of Beavercreek; a brother, Pete (Lucy) Robey of Yuma, Arizona; two sisters, Jean Foust of Lima and Mary Ashley of West Lafayette, Indiana; five grandchildren, Randall Peacock, Tyler Peacock and Brian Peacock, all of Palmetto, Florida; Katharine Hammond of San Diego, California; and Nick Hammond of Dublin; and three great-grandchildren, Emerson and Jack Timmerman of San Diego and Gannon Peacock of Palmetto.

A brother, Dave Robey, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. William Haggis II officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the preferred memorial is Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center, c/o Community Health Professionals, 1159 Westwood Drive, Van Wert, OH 45891.
