Janice Knerr (nee Myers) , 88, of Mansfield, and formerly of Van Wert, died peacefully in the early hours of November 22, 2015. Born in Defiance, Ohio in 1927, the only child of Flossie and Glenn, Janice graduated from Celina High School and lived in Mansfield, Ohio. Janice led a gregarious and joyful life and was a devoted wife to Glenn, who passed away in 2010, and a loving and proud mother to Doug (Lesley Slavitt). Known for her exceptional thoughtfulness and generosity, Janice will be remembered by many as a dedicated friend and a loving and steadfast presence to an extended family (cousins Kay and Jerry Shell and Sue and Richard Tongberg and their children and grandchildren). She worked for Geyer's markets for many years, and in retirement enjoyed watching baseball, shopping, and playing cards. Glenn and Janice loved their home and their dear neighbors Nick and Barb Oliveri. Her passing will be a noteworthy and sustaining loss to many, although her memory will be an enriching reminder of the meaning of generosity, friendship, and love. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert with Rev. Pentti Maki presiding. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
