Janice A. McMillen of Van Wert died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born June 22, 1948, in Paulding, the daughter of the late John and Ruby (Gunderman) Buchman. She married Kent McMillen, who survives in Van Wert. Mrs. McMillen retired from Eaton Corporation in Van Wert after 35 years of service. She was a past president of Habitat for Humanity in Van Wert, was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Van Wert County Juvenile Court and a 1966 graduate of Paulding High School. She was an animal lover and enjoyed helping people. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Erin McMillen of Van Wert; two stepdaughters, Melissa (Tim) Friemoth and Rhonda (Hubert) Perry, both of Van Wert; three brothers, James (Pat) Buchman of Paulding, Martin (Mary Ann) Buchman of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Raymond (Linda) Buchman of Paulding; two sisters, Mary Laukhuf and Kathryn (Jim) Clark, both of Paulding; and three grandchildren, Wessley Perry, Shae Friemoth and Skyler Friemoth. Two brothers, Richard and David Buchman; and a sister, Louise Buchman, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dwight Stoller officiating. Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials: The Animal Protective League in Van Wert.
