VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Jessie L. Stewart, 95, of Van Wert, formerly of Seelyville, Indiana, died at 2:34 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Hearth & Home, Van Wert.

She was born May 16, 1918, in Brazil, Indiana, to the late Emma (McNeil) Howald and George Howald.

Her husband, Howard W. Stewart, passed away May 2, 1988. They married on June 14, 1942.

Survivors include her children: Rhea (Warren) Foy of Van Wert and Darrel (Patricia) Stewart of Safety Harbor, Florida, four grandchildren: Alicia (David) Shotwell, Melody (Eric) McCracken, Kelly (Marty) McDaniel, Kara Stewart, and seven great-grandchildren: Tyler and Jordan Shotwell, Ryan, Jalen, Damon, and Griffin McCracken, and Lindsey Jo McDaniel.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Leroy Howald and Harry James Howald, and sisters: Eva Maurie Boatright and Kathryn Myers.

She formerly taught in Jackson Township, Clay County, Indiana, until marriage. After her marriage, she was a homemaker in Seelyville, Indiana, for 62 years. She was a member of Seelyville United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Indiana Normal Teachers College (now Indiana State University), formerly the Children's Choir director, Sunday School teacher, a choir member and served on many church committees. She was chairman for many years of Worship Committee.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Brazil, Indiana. The Rev. Jack Diel will officiate. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Brazil, Indiana.
