Defiance

Joan Hewitt Greisinger, 92, Defiance, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 27, 2019 surrounded by family.  She was born on April 21, 1927 in Bedfordshire, England to parents Stanley John and Florence Gertrude Hewitt.   She met Merwyn Chauncey "Mac" Greisinger while he was stationed in England with the Air force during WWII.  They married on September 30, 1944 in Luton, England.  She worked for the Red Cross before moving to the United States and later worked for Federal Mogul for over 25 years in Van Wert, Ohio.  She is survived by a sister Pamela Hewitt Dilly in West Midlands, England, a daughter Carol “Anne” (Jim) Kimmey of Defiance, Ohio,  granddaughter, Trish (Eric) Roush of Dublin, Ohio, grandson, David (Shawna) Fowler of Defiance, Ohio, grandson, David Ruston, Wolverine Lake, Michigan and seven great grandchildren.  She was  preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Florence Hewitt, spouse, Merwyn  "Mac" Greisinger, sister, Alma Hewitt and son David Greisinger.

A private family memorial will take place at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home.  Joan will be laid to rest beside her late husband and son at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
