Joan Grant Riley, 92, of Willshire, Ohio, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at 8:10 a.m. at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford. She was born on April 13, 1920, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Harry and Laura (Kiger), Grant. On July 27, 1940, she married Eugene Riley, who preceded her in death on August 31, 2004. She had lived in the Willshire area most of her life, living previously for a brief time in Van Wert and Lima areas. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, a member of the Willshire Union United Methodist Church, and was also affiliated with the Rockford United Methodist Church early in her marriage, and later in life, when living in Rockford. She was also a long-time member of the Order of The Eastern Star. Joan enjoyed horse races, playing bridge and other cards, reading, and for many years, vacationing in Florida during the winter months. Surviving are two sons, Mike (Janet) Riley, and Van Riley and his close friend, Julie Long, all of Rockford, and one daughter, Deatra (Doug) Evans, of Medina, Ohio. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, and one sister, Debby Pflum of Naperville, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 12:00 pm, noon with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating, at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio. Friends may call at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home on Thursday, from 10:00 am up until the time of the service at noon. Memorials may be directed to the Maplewood of Shanes Village Activity Fund for those in the Assisted Living Area or to State of the Heart Hospice, Coldwater, Ohio.
