John Eibling

John R. Eibling, 83, of Van Wert, died at 4:28 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1934, one of six children, to Royal and Charlotte (Cook) Eibling in Paulding County, Ohio.

He graduated from Payne High School, Payne, Ohio, in 1953. He married Shirley (Corathers) Eibling on Aug. 23, 1969, and she survives of Van Wert.

He attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. John retired as shipping foreman from Kennedy Manufacturing after 32 years of service.

He is also survived by his daughters, Cheri L. (David) Vollmer of Edgerton, Ohio, and Susan K. (Alex) Mutter of Portsmouth, Virginia; a son, John "J.D." (Sherry) Eibling of Van Wert; grandchildren, Courtney, Heather and Sarah Vollmer of Edgerton, Ohio, Kenny (Lisa) Turner of Jackson, Tennessee, Tarah (Kenny) Brewer of Kingsport, Tennessee, Terry Turner of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Greg (Gail) Eibling of Van Wert, Kayla (Lorenzo) Frye of Payne, Ohio, Carrie (Adam) Showalter of Eubank, Kentucky, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Greg A. and Scott David Eibling, and five siblings, George, Grace, Marcile, Ida and Betty.

John was a former 4-H advisor for the Van Wert Bunny Hoppers, was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Steve Savage officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the funeral home.
