John Pfost

SCOTT, Ohio a�" John R. Pfost, 83, of Scott, died at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Vancrest of Van Wert, Van Wert.
He was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Scott, to the late Edna A. (Mohr) Pfost and Laurence N. Pfost.
His wife, LaDonna (Saylor) Pfost, survives in Scott. They were married Aug. 11, 1950.
Other survivors include children: William G. (Nancy) Pfost, David M. Pfost, Betty K. Pfost, all of Scott, two grandchildren: Michelle (Trent) Huffine of Scott, and Adam (Sara) Pfost of Perrysburg, Ohio, and four great grandchildren: Breanna and Devin Huffine and Nathan and Brooke Pfost.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Howard, David and Edward Pfost, and sisters: Lelia Pfost, Aleda Mazza and Bonnie Dayan.
He retired in 1985 from LaFarge Corp., Paulding, Ohio, after 27 years. He was a member of Van Wert Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, photography, coin collecting, and was an accomplished woodcarver, making clocks, music boxes, furniture and cabinets for his family and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Mohr Cemetery, Van Wert County, Ohio.
Visitation is noon - 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the funeral home.
