SCOTT, Ohio - Joseph W. Pratt, 83, Scott, died at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Vancrest of Convoy, Convoy, Ohio.

He was born Aug. 19, 1928, to the late Elsie (Brown) Pratt and LeRoy Pratt. His wife, Cydona I. (Jewell) Pratt, died June 2, 1995. They were married May 18, 1947.

Survivors include his children: James (Linda) Blythe of Toledo, Ohio, Joan (Jerry) Tope of Paulding, Ohio, Dennis "Buck" (Sandi) Pratt of Ft. Jennings, Ohio, Rocksanna (Terry) Daniels of Broughton, Ohio, and Stan (Deb) Pratt of Scott; daughter-in-law: Sharon Blythe of Van Wert, Ohio; son-in-law: Larry Phillips of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; a brother: Albert Pratt of Oakwood, Ohio; one sister: Alma Rhodes of Grover Hill, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and 9 stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend of over 12 years, Annabet Cotterman.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gerald "Butch" Blythe; one daughter, Beverly I. Phillips; brothers, Jason, David, Delmar, Paul and Rolland Pratt; sisters, Edna Pratt, Grace McCague, Alice Fulmer, Eleanor Runion, Ida Wyatt, Norma Showalter and Bonnie Gilford, and two grandchildren, Mark A. Blythe and Cory L. Pratt.

He worked at Union Quarries for over 20 years and for the County of Van Wert for over 20 years. He knew names and numbers of most all county roads. He was a very hard-working and determined man. He loved his children, grandchildren and the rest of his family. He enjoyed driving Micro-Midget Cars and chaperoning many roller skating class parties of his children.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Scott.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Vancrest of Convoy or St. Rita's Hospice.
