VAN WERT, Ohio - Juanita J. Cross, 78, of Van Wert, died at 6:55 a.m. Oct. 27, 2011, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born July 22, 1933, in Springfield, Ill., to the late Dorothy (Wilson) Bell Herr and William J. Bell. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather: Lee Herr. Her husband, Harold W. Cross, died Jan. 6, 2000. They were married Oct. 7, 1954, in Decatur, Ill.
Survivors include her children: Pamela (Kevin) Langdon of Sutherland Springs, Texas, and Debora Cross of Van Wert; a brother: William C. (Dorothy) Bell of Elizabethtown, N.J.; one sister: Betty Lorraine Thomas of Jackson, Tenn.; two grandchildren: Benjamin Cross (Olivia) Langdon and Victoria Linn (James) Moore, and five great grandchildren: Noah & Emma Langdon; Molly, Ellie Rose & Haley Moore.
She attended First Baptist Church, Van Wert. She owned and operated Cross Country Ceramic Shop where she taught and sold ceramics for many years. She was a member of Van Wert County Council on Aging where she was formerly chairperson and sat on the board for many years, was instrumental on getting a new building, and was an avid fund raiser. She was also a member of Van Wert American Legion Auxiliary and Van Wert Women of the Moose and volunteered at the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home.
Private family services will be held at a later date. The Rev. Steve Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
No calling is planned.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert Manor Activities Fund.
