ROCKFORD, Ill. a�" Judith A. Axe, 73, of Rockford, Illinois, formerly of Van Wert, Ohio, died Monday morning, Oct. 20, 2014, at her residence.
She was born March 12, 1941, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Mary (Deffenbaugh) Showalter and Floyd Showalter.
Her husband, William "Bill" Axe, survives in Rockford, Illinois.
Other survivors include her children: Scott Axe of Belvidere, Illinois, Todd (Christine) Axe of Loves Park, Illinois, and Christina (Roger) Klenz of Tremonton, Utah; brothers: Daniel (Pat) Showalter of Citrus Heights, California, Jim Showalter of Atlanta, Georgia, and Michael (Karen) Showalter of Lima, Ohio; sisters: Jill (Tim) Boszor of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Julia (Tom) Gauvey of Van Wert, and Barbara Showalter of Elida, Ohio; grandchildren: Ryan Klenz, Morgan Klenz, Reis Klenz, Miranda Klenz, Lucy Axe, and Simon Axe.
She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Rockford, Illinois. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 1207, Rockford, Illinois, and a staunch Rockford Ice Hog hockey fan.
A mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert. Father Stan Szybka will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, with a rosary service set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is American Legion Post 1207, Rockford, Illinois.
