Judith Ann Miller passed peacefully Monday morning, March 21, surrounded by loved ones at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 4, 1936, in Connersville, Indiana, to Merrill G. and Norma L. (Stemen) Van Metre. On Oct. 12, 1955, she married the love of her life, Richard A. Miller, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Rhonda (David) Froelich, Lisa (Jim) Haggerty, and Sandra (Mark) Shutt, all of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Jason (Beth) Haggerty, Jaime (Joe) Hoffman, Erin (Drew) Heaslip, Sarah (Scott) White, Kyle (Trisha) Shutt, Melissa (T.J.) Imm, Kayla Froelich and Evan Shutt; 10 great-grandchildren, and her loyal dog, "Maggie."
Judy retired as a paraprofessional from Jefferson Elementary School after 25 years. She lovingly referred to the students throughout the years as her "Jefferson Kids." Her family was her pride and joy and she was their constant supporter through all of their life's chapters.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her three brothers, Gordon, Thomas, and Max Van Metre.
A private family celebration of Judy's life will be held at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, 1155 Westwood Drive, Van Wert, Ohio 45891.
