VAN WERT - Julius H. Strick, 69, of Van Wert, passed away at 1:16 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011, at Joint Twp. District Hospital in St. Marys, OH.
He was born November 20, 1941 in Dayton, OH, to Joseph and Myrtle (Cotterman) Strick, both of whom are deceased. He married Linda (Teeple) Strick on May 7, 1960. She survives.
Strick is also survived by his children, Brett (Stacy) Strick, of Van Wert, OH, Bart (Rosemary) Strick, of Venedocia, OH, and Karen (Fiance-Jeff Rogers) Hire, Van Wert, OH; two sisters, Carmen Hoffman, of Lima, OH and Joyce Baer, of Van Wert, OH; ten grandchildren, Jake, Derek, Luke, Tiffany & Josh (Sara) Strick, Cassie & Colt Thompson, BobiJo (Bill) Howard, Shawn (Andrea) Hire, Jessica Hire; 13 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Storm, Brooke, Billy, Drake, Zack, Zoe, Kaden, Kamden, Kysen, Prestyn, Logan and Brandon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Huff.
Strick was a truck driver for over 50 years. He was a member of the Van Wert Moose Lodge. Besides his family, Julius also loved his animals, especially Pepper & Sammy.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Ocotber 18 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. at Monday, October 17, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Co. Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
