Karl Giessler

VAN WERT, Ohio - Karl D. Giessler, 94, of Van Wert, died at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Harrison Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Mabel Marie (Bell) Giessler and Arthur J. Giessler.
His wife, Olene (Schaadt) Giessler, died June 23, 1993. They were married Sept. 17, 1944, in Van Wert.
Survivors include four nieces, Connie (Gary) Hofmann of Cottontown, Tenn., Sharyn (Dave) Smith of Van Wert, Sarah (Dale) Burden of Convoy, Ohio, and Janice (Dave) Ashby of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Wayne and twin brother Paul Giessler.
He worked at Continental Can Co., Van Wert, for 36 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, a life member of the National Men's Garden Club of America and formerly a member of the Van Wert Men's Garden Club.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Gregg Gardner will conduct the services. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the church or Gardeners of Van Wert County.
