Karoljean "Jeannie" (Kring) Ditmyer, 68, of Van Wert, Ohio, died 9 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
She was born June 11, 1948 in Findlay, Ohio, to the late Don L. Kring and Jean A. (Kirk) Kring.
Survivors include children, Jennifer M. Ditmyer of Columbus, Ohio and Joseph M. (Juliana) Ditmyer of St. Petersburg, Florida; a brother, Lynn D. Kring of Maine; a sister, Denise C. Kring of Findlay, Ohio; a nephew, Experience (Rachel) Kring of Vermont and their children, Jora and Harper Kring.
She worked as a teacher with Van Wet City Schools for 35 years. Majority of her time teaching was spent at Horace Mann Elementary School before moving to Jefferson Elementary and Franklin Elementary. She was a faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert, Ohio, where she held many different leadership roles. She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the Bell Choir and Prayer Team.
After graduating from Findley High School, Jeannie furthered her education at Bowling Green State University and earned her master's degree from Mount St. Joseph University. An altruistic woman, Jeannie gave freely of her time and talents to her church, her school, her pupils and her community.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, Ohio, and again Friday from 9:30 a.m. to10:30 a.m. at the church. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert, Ohio. Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, Ohio.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
