Lawrence Harting

Lawrence E. Harting, 91, of Van Wert passed away at 9:15 PM on Tuesday, March 03, 2020 at Community Health Professionals Defiance Inpatient Hospice.

Born on November 17, 1928 in Convoy, Ohio, the son of the late William E. and Mary (Klinger) Harting. On May 24, 1953, he married the former Charlotte Eileen Matthews, who proceeded him in death. Together, they shared over 62 years of memories.

Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a Lieutenant stationed in Germany.

Lawrence retired from National Seal, in Van Wert, after 43 years of service.

Lawrence was a life-long member of First Friends Church, in Van Wert, where he dedicated his life and his families life to his Lord and Savior. He also served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

Lawrence enjoyed building things out of wood. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always busy doing something, but most of all he loved talking to everyone about his Lord and Savior.

Surviving are his children, Larry (Kim) Harting of Carmel, Indiana and Julie Harting Hunter of Van Wert; grandchildren, Clint Harting of Colorado, Cole (Katie) Harting of Van Wert, and Anna May Ricker of Marion, Ohio; step granddaughters, Peggy and Meagan Wendt of Cecil, Ohio; a great grandson, Elijah Zimmerman; step great grandsons, Victor and Carlos Lechuga; step great granddaughter, Elizabeth Lechuga; Brothers, Gerald Harting and Roger (Mary) Harting; a sister in law, Marsha Harting; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Renee Zimmerman; brothers, Ralph, Gene, and Delmar Harting; and a sister, Grace Harting Burley.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, with Rev. Howard Dudley and Rev. Phil Abram, officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, OH.

The family will receive from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the funeral home.
