Lenis M. (Pete/Red) Marsee, 90, of Rockford, died on January 9, 2015, on his birthday, at 9:20 a.m. He was born January 9, 1925, in Speedwell, Tennessee, to McKinley and Cora Ethel (Tinnel) Marsee. In 1945, he moved to Rockford, and on December 31, 1945, he married Freda Poteete, who preceded him in death on January 16, 2005. Pete was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the 95th. Infantry Division, and was a life-time member of Eichar De Curtins Post #5713 in Celina, Ohio. He was a supervisor at Good Year Tire & Rubber Company in St. Marys, Ohio, where he retired after over 42 years there. He will be best known for sharing vegetables from the abundance of his garden, riding his bicycle around town, and being a handyman to his neighbors Surviving Pete is a daughter, Debra Marsee of Rockford; one brother, Roy (Dorothy) Marsee of St. Marys, Ohio; and three sisters: Tommy June Southard of Crestview, Florida; Emma Lou Cain of Panama City, Florida; and Carolyn (Rollie) Custer of Homosassa, Florida. Deceased is one brother, Carlos Marsee, and two sisters, Cleo Mayes and Freddie Mae Callow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio, with Pastor Mark Rutledge officiating. Burial will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at the Yoakum Cemetery in Speedwell, Tennessee with the VFW providing military services. Friends may call at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
