Leona Schlemmer

MONROEVILLE, Ind. - Leona Mae Schlemmer, 98, a longtime resident of Monroeville, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford, Ohio.

She was born May 10, 1914, in Tully Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Effie (Geyer) Beucler and Glen Beucler. Her first husband, Wilson Keith Gilbert, was killed in an auto accident in February of 1976. Philip Schlemmer died in January of 2002.

Survivors include a daughter: Jo Ann (Larry) Gilbert Bland of Willshire, Ohio, formerly of Monroeville; two brothers: Edwin (Harriet) Beucler and Byron (Barbara) Beucler, both of Monroeville; a grandchild: Jacqueline (Jeffrey) Caffee of Willshire; great-grandchildren: Amber Roman and Keith Roman of Decatur, Ind., and a great-great-grandchild: Gracie Mae Roman of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by a grandson: L. Dean Bland.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Monroeville.

Graveside services will be held at Monroeville Cemetery at the family's convenience. No visitation is planned.
