LIMA, Ohio - Leora A. Burden, 76, of Lima, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert, Ohio.
She was born May 3, 1934, in St. Marys, Ohio, to the late Ruth (Ashbaugh) Worthington and Earl W. Worthington. Her husband, Mark Burden, survives in Lima.
Other survivors include her children: Tim (Beth) Burden of Van Wert and Rebecca (Richard) Bartholomew of Columbus, a sister: Lana (John) Baker of Houston, Texas, and her grandchildren: Rachel (Steve) Wolverton, Matthew Burden, Richard Scott Bartholomew, Joshua (Anna) Bartholomew, David (Valerie) Burden, Benjamin (Monica) Bartholomew and Jonathan Burden.
She was a member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church, Lima, and a pastor's wife. She loved her family, children and grandchildren; was a Prayer Warrior; church secretary and organist, member of United Methodist Women, a great pie baker, candy maker, and great at crafts; had a great memory of names, birthdates, dates, numbers and addresses; played piano and organ in churches; was on a volunteer emergency rescue squad (EMT) and belonged to different Garden Clubs over the years.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Shawnee Community Church, 2600 Zurmehly Road, Lima, OH. The Rev. Charlotte Hefner will officiate.
No calling prior to the service but visiting and fellowship after the service.
