VAN WERT, Ohio - Leslie L. Brown, Sr. of Van Wert died at 5:35 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., to the late Alice (O'Day) Brown and William H. Brown.
His wife, Roxie L. (Brown) Brown, survives in Van Wert. They were married June 5, 1954, in Angola, Ind.
Other survivors include four children: Lucinda S. (John V.) Wallace, Jenny A. (Mark A.) Nofer, Leslie L. Brown, Jr. and Dwayne C. (Pamela I.) Brown, all of Van Wert; two half brothers: Ed Brown and Justus O'Day; four granddaughters: Emily L. Wallace of Columbus, Ohio, Jill N. (Lucas R.) Welch of Decatur, Ind., Katlyn A. Nofer and Heather A. Nofer, both of Van Wert; two grandsons: Joshua C. Brown and Jeremy D. Brown of Van Wert, and three great-granddaughters: Hayley K. Schlatman, Olivia N. Welch and Veronica A. Osborn.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Max O. Brown.
He owned and operated Brown's TV Sales & Service for 38 years with his son Leslie Jr. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a life member of American Legion Post 178 of Van Wert, AMVETS Post 698 of Middle Point, Ohio, Loyal Order of Moose 1320 in Van Wert, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert, DAV Chapter 57 in Van Wert, VFW National Homes for Children of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Voiture 154 40/8 in Van Wert. He loved woodworking, fishing and camping.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 at Van Wert American Legion Post 178. Military services will be conducted by combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and V.F.W. Posts. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
