Lois DuVall

Lois J. DuVall, 99, of Van Wert, OH, entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. She was born on November 9, 1916, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Josephine (Kline) and Archie Sutton.

On April 3, 1938, she married Raymond E. DuVall who preceded her in death on May 23, 1997. They were married for 59 years. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her three children: one daughter, Sue (Jeff) Arn of Van Wert; two sons, Larry (Connie) DuVall of Van Wert and Robert (Marilyn) DuVall of Van Wert; seven grandchildren: Denise (Mick) Huber of Glen Rose, TX; Greg (Tammy) DuVall of Fort Wayne, IN; Kelly(Blake) Brubaker of Warsaw, IN; Dr. Kendra Jiannuzzi of San Diego, CA; Nikki (Brandon) Slone of Hoagland, IN; Chadd (Niki) DuVall of Delphos, OH; Jan (Chad) Hanzlicek of Lithia, FL; seven great-grandchildren: Megan Shamo, Madelyn Speakman, Darren Brubaker, Jordan Brubaker, Emma Jiannuzzi, Olivia Jiannuzzi, Brady DuVall, Chase Hanzlicek and Addison Hanzlicek; and sister-in-law, Arlen (Sutton) Galloway of Van Wert, OH.

She was preceded in death by two step-sisters: Thelma Stewart and Helen Thatcher and a half brother, Don Sutton. She was a homemaker and a very good cook known for her homemade noodles, pies and Amish cookies and helped her husband in their farming operation until retirement. She also loved gardening, playing the piano and reading her Bible. In 1934 she graduated from Ohio City Liberty School and also graduated from International Business College in Fort Wayne, IN. Following graduation she worked in the office at Continental Can in Van Wert (now Greif Brother) for several years.

Lois was a current member of Grace Bible Church, Van Wert, OH. She was a former longtime member of Calvary Evangelical Church and a member of their Martha Circle. She was a former member of the Van Wert County Board of Elections and the Farm Bureau. She and Raymond spent 40 winters in their home in Bradenton, FL.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Grace Bible Church, Van Wert, OH with Pastor Lance Hostetler officiating. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 AM Saturday February 6, 2016 at the church. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, OH.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Grace Bible Church, Van Wert Inpatient Hospice, or to the Gideon's.
