Loma Tonja Vedrinski, 56, passed away at Grant Hospital on August 29, 2020. She was born August 24, 1964 to Reba "Marie" Millay and Thomas Michael Millay, who precede her in death. Tonja is survived by her loving husband Tim Vedrinski, son Kyle (Cindy) Erwin, daughter Deaven Vedrinski, brother Mike (Shannon) Millay, grandchildren Gabe Erwin and Harper Erwin, cousins, nieces, and aunts. Tonja also leaves behind her much-loved dog Barbie and cat Gizmo.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to John, Charlotte, Tim, and the rest of the Gender Road Christian Church. Also, thank you to Sean Sauer, Jonda, Keith, Roger, Charlie, Kim, Aunt Connie, and the South of William's Road Golf Club for your support.
Tonja lived a life full of joy and faith. She loved campfires, the Ohio State Buckeyes, church choir, her spice garden, and spending time with her lifelong friends. Family was Tonja's top priority and she loved walking through life with her wonderful husband Tim. A devoted mother, she was idolized by her children and offered them endless support as they grew into adulthood. Tonja was a beloved "Gigi" to her two grandchildren Gabe and Harper, and Gabe loved nothing more than making buckeyes in his Gigi's kitchen. As an active member of her church community, Tonja served as Vice President of the Gender Road Christian Church congregation. A competitive athlete all her life, Tonja achieved all conference in softball and volleyball for Canal Winchester High School. In her adult life, Tonja enjoyed playing golf, and especially cherished it when she got to play with those she loved. As her golf friends would fondly say, "Girl can drive a golf ball!"
Even more impressive than her skill on the field was her professional caliber. Starting as a secretary at AEP, Tonja rose to substation manager, and was the only female "A" powerline mechanic in Ohio and the surrounding states. She then used her knowledge to teach Powerline at Delaware Career Center. It was especially thrilling to Tonja when one of her students got a job in the field as she truly believed that all of her students had bright and exciting futures. Her career continued to move forward when she accepted a job with the City of Columbus in the Public Utilities Department, where she quickly became the Power Distribution Assistant Manager. Driven by her love of a challenge, Tonja also got her real estate license and learned to flip houses.
A woman of immeasurable strength, courage, faith, and compassion, the world is a better place simply because she was here.
