VAN WERT, Ohio - Marcile Dunlap, 99, of Van Wert, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Van Wert.
She was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Ethel (Allen) Miller and David Miller. Her husband, Cyril E. Dunlap, died June 25, 1964. They were married Dec. 24, 1933.
Survivors include her children: Danny (Anna) Dunlap and Pat (Don) Johnson, both of Van Wert; a sister: Pauline (Frank) McGannon of Van Wert; four grandchildren: Tammy Johnson, Wendy (Brian) Terrill, Mark (Amy) Dunlap and Matthew (Kristen) Dunlap, and nine great-grandchildren: Christopher and Samantha Johnson; Austin, Carlee and Connor Terrill; Reagan and Collin Dunlap, and Jackson and Carter Dunlap.
She was prececed in death by a sister: Ruth Miller, a grandchild, Troy Johnson, and a great-grandchild, Logan Terrill.
She retired from J.C. Penney Store in Van Wert in 1973 after 16 years. She also worked for a few years in the cafeteria at St. Mary's Catholic School in Van Wert. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, for over 60 years, and was a graduate of Middle Point High School and Troy School of Beauty Culture of Lima, Ohio. She was an avid Van Wert Cougar fan for many years enjoying football and basketball games. She also liked watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio. Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10 and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
