VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Marilyn Jeanne (Brown) Kampf left this earth in the arms of angels on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015.
She was born on April 6, 1940, the only daughter of Earl Eugene and Vivian Ruth (Linke) Brown. Both parents preceded her in death.
Marilyn attended Mt. Victory Dudley School for the first 12 years of her education. She was a class officer, member of National Honor Society and very active in music and sports. She graduated as salutatorian of the 1958 class, and served as Hardin County Grange queen. During these years, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Kenton, Ohio.
Following graduation, Marilyn was accepted to the Lima Memorial Hospital three-year school of nursing. She simultaneously enrolled in Ohio Northern University to obtain her degree in nursing. She served as head nurse in pediatrics at Memorial Hospital for 15 years serving on many boards and as a guest lecturer.
She became the first R.N., at Central Insurance Companies in Van Wert. She compiled manuals on the functions of the human body to be used by claim adjustors. She was also instrumental in making videos as well as medical terminology manuals. She was awarded her national Managed Care Certification and was included in "Who's Who in American Nursing" on two separate occasions.
After 20 years with the Central Companies, she turned to a new aspect of nursing. She did private duty nursing for several individuals and worked as a staff member and supervisor for nursing homes.
She married Robert C. "Bob" Kampf, the love of her life. Bob preceded her in death in 1999. The couple's only child, Robert William "Bill" Kampf, preceded her in death in 1998. He brought them much love, happiness, joy and pride.
Marilyn is survived by a favorite uncle, Claire (Virginia) Linke and favorite aunt, Margaret (Charles, deceased) Linke. Her brother-in-law, Richard (Virginia) Kampf, survives in Washington state. Also surviving are several relatives.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Van Wert. She was an active RN for 54 years, a member of the Lima Memorial RN Alumni, served as president of the local RN chapter. She volunteered for Community Health Professionals, the TWIGS at the thrift shop and at the hospital. Marilyn enjoyed flower gardening, cake decorating, bingo, garage sales, and her many friends and co-workers.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City, Ohio.
Preferred memorials may be directed to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church for masses or The Angel Foundation or a local cancer association.
