VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Marilyn Rose (Phillipy) Baker, 87, of Van Wert, peacefully passed surrounded by family at 3:38 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Van Wert, to the late Wilma Nevada (Hertel) Phillipy Roop and Ream Taylor Phillipy.
Survivors include children: Linda (Karl) Waite of Atlanta, Georgia, David (Wanda) Baker of Huntsville, Alabama, Cathy (Eric) Taylor and Larry Baker, both of Van Wert, grandchildren: Lorina Bryde, Kimberly Waite, Austin Baker, Karla (Brett) Shull, and great-grandchildren: Aleah, Raven, and Emma Shull.
She was preceded in death by a brother: William Harry Phillipy and a sister: Virginia Ann (Phillipy) Clemmensen.
She attended Grace Bible Church, Van Wert. She was currently a member of First Families of Van Wert County, Van Wert Historical Society and Ohio Genealogical Society. She was a past member of Zenobia Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star and had also been a Boy Scouts den mother and Campfire leader. She was an avid gardener and bingo player.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at Grace Bible Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Lance Hostetler will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorial is Grace Bible Church.
