Marlyn LaRue

Marlyn Jeanne LaRue, 87, of Convoy, Ohio died at 1:08 AM Monday February 18, 2013 at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Convoy, Ohio. She was born July 20, 1925 in McClure, Ohio to the late Othor and Ethel (Alspaugh) Erven.

On April 24, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana she married Richard E. LaRue, who survives in Convoy, Ohio.

Mrs. LaRue graduated from International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She is a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, Ohio. She had worked at Drake's Hardware in Convoy, Ohio and at Dr. Johnson & Adams Office in Van Wert, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles and playing the piano. After retirement, Marlyn and Richard traveled and spent winters in Mission, Texas for many years.

She is also survived by her children: Stephen (Joan) LaRue of Tucson, Arizona; Chris (Julie) LaRue of Convoy, Ohio; Peggy (Ed) Fritz of Woodburn, Indiana; Susan (Jack) Gunsett of Convoy, Ohio; Jill (Don) Carrier of Convoy, Ohio and Jean (Scott) Dickman of Convoy, Ohio; 12 grandchildren: Kelly (Chad) Marks; Malissa Fritz, Michelle (Joe) Schaller, Michael (Cristy) Fritz, Adam Carrier, Brad (Ashley) Carrier, Mark (Cara) Carrier, Kevin (Missy) Dickman, Kristin (Curt) Oeschle, Kari (Matt) Plessinger, Matthew LaRue and Brooke LaRue; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Rhodes, a brother, Robert Erven, and a grandson, Derek Gunsett.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday February 21 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Convoy, Ohio. Rev. Michael Saylor will officiate. Burial will take place at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Family and Friends may call from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday February 20 at Gearhart-Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, Ohio and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Convoy E.M.S. or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
