VAN WERT - Mary E. Crider, 82, of Van Wert, died at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Van Wert Hospital, Van Wert.

She was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Sarah Mildred (Ault) Bauer Gleckler and Francis C. Bauer. Her stepfather, Ray Gleckler, and her stepmother, Grace Arvada Bauer, are also deceased.

Her husband, George W. "Bill" Crider, died Jan. 18, 2006. They were married Feb. 2, 1951.

Survivors include her children: Francine Crider of Westerville, Ohio, Cheryl (Gregg) Schaffner of Scott, Ohio, Becky Markward of Van Wert; foster children: Linda Morris and Richard Jacobs, both of Van Wert; a brother: Donald C. Bauer, Odum, Ga.; a sister: Raellen (Tom) Hoblet of Van Wert; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Clifford Bauer; two stepbrothers: Raymond Gleckler and Rick Gleckler; two sisters: Delores Free and Audrey Chivington, and a grandchild.

She was a registered nurse, retiring in 1995 after 44 years of nursing, serving the office of Dr. Don Walters for 18 years, the Van Wert County Hospital and the Van Wert Manor.

She was a member of Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert. She formerly served with the Van Wert Campfire Girls (now Buckeye Y) and on the Van Wert County Cancer Board.

Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Neil Hammons will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and an hour prior to the service at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert.

Preferred memorial is Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert.
