Mary Evans

VAN WERT, Ohio - Mary H. Evans, 73, Van Wert, died at 6:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.

She was born July 23, 1938, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Goldie (Zinn) Duncan and Dale Duncan.

Survivors include her children: Douglas Evans, Debra (Thad) Lichtensteiger and Linda Myers, all of Van Wert, and Angela Evans of Toledo, Ohio; a brother: William (Karen) Duncan of Van Wert; two brothers-in-law: Paul Reed of Texas and Bernard Waltz of Van Wert; a sister: Eleanor (Dean) McOmber of Van Wert; 10 grandchildren: Nichole (Robert) O'Brien; Matthew Evans; Kirk (Eliza) Lichtensteiger; Kory (Amanda) Lichtensteiger; Luke (Kristin) Lichtensteiger; Carly Lichtensteiger; Tricia (Chris) Hughes; Lexi Myers; Drew Myers and Derek Bissonette, and 8 great grandchildren: Ayden, Kale, Beau, Kash, Tate, Beth, Ila and Liah.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Beth Bissonette, and three sisters: LaVonne Carrier, LaVerne Reed and Velma Waltz.

She was employed at the Thomas Edison Workshop in Van Wert for 28 years. She attended Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church in Van Wert.

Mary enjoyed going out with friends and shopping. The biggest love of Mary's life was her family and she would attend every grandchild's sporting event she could until she was no longer able.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Revs. Paul Miller and Ronald Lumm will officiate. Burial will be in Convoy IOOF Cemetery, Convoy, Ohio.

Friends may call from 3:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, and one hour prior to the service on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial can be given to the family for a donation to be given to a charitable cause in Mary's name.
