Mary Goodwin

Mary Lou Goodwin, 87, of Van Wert, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at the Van Wert Manor, Van Wert. She was born June 9, 1929, in Hardin County, Ohio, to Evie Lena (Markham) Bailey and Silas Ray Bailey. Her parents preceded her in death. Her husband, Richard "Ernie" Goodwin, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Bekkie J. (Rolland) Mowery of Van Wert; daughter-in-law, Belinda Goodwin of Celina, Ohio; a sister, Laura Pauline Stewart of Iowa City, Iowa; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randy E. Goodwin; two brothers; three sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
She was the former owner of Colonial Nursing Home and Ernie's Family Restaurant, both of Rockford, Ohio, and longtime employee of Peebles Department Store of Van Wert. She served on the Rockford, Ohio City Council for a few years.
Graveside service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Ohio. No calling hours are planned.
