Mary McDowell

Mary Catherine McDowell, 85, formerly of Middle Point, Ohio, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Van Wert, Ohio.
She was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Middle Point, to the late Lotta J. (Myers) Showalter and Clifford R. Showalter. Her husband, Lloyd W. McDowell, died April 10, 1983. They were married Jan. 15, 1949.
Survivors include her children: Jeff (Sally) McDowell of Convoy, Ohio, and David McDowell and Barry (Sue) McDowell, both of Van Wert; four grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; six great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Doris Showalter.
She attended the former First United Presbyterian Church in Middle Point and retired from Van Wert County Hospital after 19 years of service. She volunteered at the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home for several years and loved bingo.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home & Crematory, Convoy. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Convoy.Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at the funeral home.
