Mary Ellen Subler Newcomer, 92, of Van Wert, died at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at her residence.
She was born April 16, 1923, in St. Henry, Ohio, to the late Rose (Huelsman) Hart and William Hart.
In 1949, she married Louis Subler and he died in 1976. Then in 1989, she married Robert Newcomer and he died in 2003.
Survivors include children, Judy Luce of Van Wert, Michael (Becky) Lingmann of San Antonio, Texas, Leonard (Laura) Subler and Nancy Friemoth Ripley (Ron), both of Van Wert, Larry (Gina) Subler of Ohio City, Ohio, Tina Marie (Mike) Owens of Van Wert; stepchildren: Dena Mae Walker of Franklin, Ohio, Barbara Holt of Farmington, Minnesota, Wayne (Doris) Newcomer of Baldwin, Michigan, Teresa (Larry) Springer of Spencerville, Indiana; grandchildren, Jeff Perry, Sharla Fore, Gina Foster, Michelle Kelley, Kim Johnson, Jennifer Ogden, Melissa Lingmann, Sara Lingmann, Jayson Subler, Nick Subler, Rob Friemoth, Amy Knapinski, Amanda Decker, Stacey Subler, Erica Roehm, Justin Owens; three stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by stepchildren, James Subler and Mary Wright; sons-in-law, Abe Luce and Robert Friemoth; stepson-in-law, Larry Holt; brothers, Anthony and Albert Hart; sisters, Leona Schlueter, Helen Erikson, and Agnes Hart, and a grandchild, Rodney Subler.
She retired from Federal Mogul, Van Wert, in 1989. She had previously worked at Van Wert County Hospital for 12 years. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert, where she was active in the 60+ Sunday School group. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed puzzles and making pictures out of them.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Dr. Seeyoung Joseph Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Community Health Professionals - Hospice or Wesley United Methodist Church.
