VAN WERT, Ohio - Mary Kay Wilcox, 94, passed away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Vancrest Nursing Home, Van Wert.
She was born Feb. 24, 1918, to William J. and Ellen Murphy, both deceased.
On Oct. 7, 1941, she married Rev. R. Edsel Wilcox, who died July 30, 1982.
She is survived by two sons, Bill (Linda) Wilcox, Blacklick, Ohio, and Jim (Nancy) Wilcox, Haviland, Ohio, six grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Snyder, New Albany, Ohio, Heather (Kelly) Jones, Waxhaw, N.C., Jason (Jen) Wilcox, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Brittany (Bryce) Sinn, Wren, Ohio, B.J. and Brooke Wilcox, both of Haviland, Ohio, and six great-grandchildren.
Kay was a 75-year member of Bluebell Chapter 151 Order of Eastern Star, Past District Deputy Grand Matron, District 27 OES. Ms. Hattie, as she was known, was past president of the Defiance District United Methodist Women, a certified lay pastor and served the Hartsburg UMC for 14 years.
Visitation will be held Thursday, noon-6 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Shawnee Cemetery in Shawnee, Ohio.
Preferred memorials may be given to the West Ohio Conference-United Methodist Women.
