Maurice Miller

VAN WERT, Ohio - Maurice J. "Mo" Miller, 88, of Van Wert, died Friday morning, July 12, 2013, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

He was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., to the late Edna (Weitfeldt) Miller and Walter Miller.

He married Hildegarde (Salomon) Miller. She died Nov. 10, 1978. Then on May 14, 1982, he married Julia McCarthy Miller. She survives of Van Wert.

Other survivors include children: Douglas M. (Nancy) Miller of San Antonio, Texas, Alan D. (Lisa) Miller of Ft. Wayne, five grandchildren: Susan Cuellar, Leslie Stone, Eli Miller, Josh Miller and Nate Miller, and two great grandchildren: Sophia Cuellar and Abigail Stone.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathryn S. Miller; an infant son, Michael D. Miller, and a brother: Ronald Miller.

He served as director of human resources for the former Aeroquip Corporation, Van Wert, from 1954-1988. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Van Wert. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WW II from 1943-1946. He was a 1950 graduate of Valparaiso University, past president of Van Wert Rotary, a former member of Van Wert Jaycees and Van Wert Chamber of Commerce, and an avid golfer and member of Willow Bend Country Club.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert. The Rev. Phillip Zielinski will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, where military graveside services will be conducted by combined units of the Van Wert American legion and VFW Posts.

Visitation is 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Preferred memorial is Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
