Maxine Helstad

Maxine V. Helstad, 86, of Van Wert, died 11:21PM Tuesday February 20,2018 at the Van Wert County Hospital.  Maxine was born January 16, 1932 in Antwerp, OH to Walter and Mary (Wyman) Wallace and they are both deceased.

Surviving is a son, Rodney (Karen) Helstad Jr of Spencerville, OH, adopted daughter Vickie Rusk, Ohio City, OH,  10 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren.  Preceding her in death are her parents, 2 Children: Dawn Elaine Weaver and Robert Keith Helstad, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Maxine was a housekeeper at the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home for 13 years. She was a former member of the Van Wert Eagles, Ran the Cancer and the Heart Funds for many years and raised a lot of money for both.  She volunteered at the Van Wert YWCA for many years and was known as “Mom” or “Grandma” to everyone and never met a stranger.

Calling will be from 4-8PM Monday February 26,2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Tuesday February 27, 2018 @ Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, OH.  Preferred memorial is to the Family.
